The Story Behind The Song: Episode #7 - All I Ever Wanted from the CD "M&R Rush"

All I Ever Wanted was inspired by a little Casio keyboard that Carl got for Christmas in 1982. What was cool about this keyboard is that it came with a little black hard plastic road case to keep it safe when transporting it to and from the shows. Carl used that little Casio keyboard at every show for years to warm up in the dressing room before the show. He might need to go over a song, solo, or parts with the band, to make sure the M&R Rush Show kicked in at high gear! The Casio had a drum beat accompaniment called "ROCK" that Carl liked, and he asked Marty to duplicate it for the song All I Ever Wanted. Carl wrote All I Ever Wanted with lyrical help from Jeff who sings lead vocal. John, Roger, and Carl sing the harmonies while Marty supplies the drive and energy on drums. And sorry to say, that little Casio keyboard disappeared from O'Malley's Bar in Alsip, Illinois in September of 2009.
LYRICS
Sittin on a corner of a bar room chair
I started thinkin, how did I there
A silly little quarrel in the middle of the night
I could of been wrong But I had to be right
Oh can’t you see you’re more than the world to me
Oh, listen to me
Chorus
All I ever wanted - All I ever needed was you you you
All I ever wanted - All I ever needed was you you you
You’re all that I need
Walkin back to get ya, I see you in the street
Our faces tell the story when our eyes do finally meet
You were lookin for me I was lookin for you
Sometimes I can’t explain the crazy things that I do
Oh can’t you see you’re more than the world to me
Oh, listen to me
