"Million Seller"

from the CD "Thrill of the Chase"

Million Seller is one of those M&R Rush classic tunes that was written by Carl back in the Roseland days and played at hundreds of shows before it was finally recorded in 2004. You can say that Million Seller was already etched in stone. Well almost! Carl wanted Jeff and Paul to share the lead vocal duties, alternating the lines, showcasing the present-day singer of the song with the original singer of the song. It worked perfectly!

The song was written to be one that you could go right into without stopping from the previous song. To accomplish this Marty does an energized eight-count drum fill that starts things humming before the power chords, synthesizers, and driving rhythm section kicks in. Carl had just acquired his brand-new Yamaha Motif 7 and just had to show off the powerful sounds of his new toy. That's why you hear a lot of power slides up and down on the keyboards in this one!

Million Seller is a song about every young man's dream of becoming a Rock Star, performing in front of large, great crowds, and all the excitement and extras that goes along with that, including a million-seller.

This song has it all, powerful drums, powerful guitars, powerful keys, the trademark M&R Rush vocal harmonies, and a killer double guitar solo too!

Carl said, that although he can't be certain of it, at some live shows he thought he heard Paul sing " the girls were naked at the backstage door " instead of the line, "the girls were waiting at the backstage door. Who knows? He might have been dreaming it!

LYRICS

I dream of rock & roll, every guy has had this dream,
All those people clappin and lots of girls attackin, don’t tell me you don’t know what I mean.
I dream in black and white, most the time I dream in color,

But in my rock & roll adventure I’m sure to have a Million Seller.
And maybe one fine day I’ll sell the rights to this dream,
So rock & rollers everywhere can catch it on a screen.

Million, Million Seller!
Million, Million Seller!

We wailed endlessly, the people never seen such a set,
The music was a-kickin, people were a-trippin to a band they knew they’d never forget.
The band got it on all night, the crowd kept yellin for one more,

And when the show did end the girls were waitin at the backstage door.
You’ve had that dream before but it’s not as good as mine,
And you’ll never know how good it can be til it’s on MTV sometime.

Million, Million Seller!
Million, Million Seller!
Million, Million Seller!
Million, Million Seller!
