"Wrap Me Up"

From the CD "Thrill of the Chase"

WRAP ME UP has the unique distinction of being the first song recorded by M&R Rush that never made it onto the playlist of a live M&R Rush show. In reality, M&R Rush never played this song together as a band, ever!!

It was learned and recorded on the spot at Star Trax recording studio in sections. The drums and bass went first, followed by the keyboards, then the guitars, and finally all the vocals.

Jeff does a remarkable job of hitting the high notes on lead vocals while Roger, John, Paul, and Carl just can't wait for that midnight ride on the bridge and chorus to show off the trademark M&R Rush harmonies. John adds the galloping guitar and Carl adds the pizzicato and staccato synthesizers. Marty is the glue, holding it all together on drums while adding some tasty drum fills to the verses and John's guitar solo.

Carl wrote WRAP ME UP and says his influences were Journey's song Faithfully and Foreigner's tune Cold as Ice. Wow! How much more different can you get?

The song itself was inspired by a certain wonderful someone who tended bar at a rock club called the Great Illinois Purchase in Rockford Illinois and helped someone celebrate their 24th birthday.

WRAP ME UP is a complex song with a complex arrangement where the guitars and keyboards are weaving their way through the song while simultaneously playing different parts. The keyboard plays the main melody while the guitar plays the alternative melody line.

On more than one occasion, the boys in the band would ask Carl, "Are you sure that this is gonna work?" Well, it worked so well that WRAP ME UP ended up being the opening track on THE THRILL OF THE CHASES CD!!!

LYRICS

Hope your in the mood Hope you feel the passion
Won’t you spend sometime with me
Hope you think you could Tell me what’s your pleasure
You know its just fine with me
I can’t wait I can’t wait - for that midnight ride
I can’t wait I can’t wait - wait to be with you tonight
