"Heavy Metal Christmas"

from the CD "Thrill of the Chase"

The song, Heavy Metal Christmas, is an idea that Carl had back in the 1980's when heavy metal bands like Iron Maiden, Van Halen, Judas Priest, and Ozzy Osboune were Rockin' the world.

Every Christmas, Carl would tell the guys in M&R Rush, "I have this Christmas song called Heavy Metal Christmas that we should record, especially since no other rock band had". Sammy Hagar and Stephen Wolf had songs with heavy metal in the lyrics but they weren't Christmas songs.

So, In the fall of 2003, Carl finally got his wish and Heavy Metal Christmas was recorded at Star Tracks recording studio.  The song had to have loud power chords, loud pounding bass and drums, screaming guitars as well as a rugged lead vocal as sung by Paul Martin.

Heavy Metal Christmas is a story about a spoiled rotten teenager who threatens, "If you want peace this holiday, you'd better get me what I want this time." He then goes on and delivers an exclusive list of heavy metal bands to choose from.

Harmonics, feedback, chord bending, slides, climbing guitar harmonies, and sleigh bells, what more could you want from a rock Christmas song?  M&R Rush delivers the heavy metal thunder and the 50,000 watts of pure power and energy in this one.

It's worth listening to the very end of Heavy Metal Christmas to hear Marty's longest drum fill ever recorded that ends the song on John's slide perfectly.

Just to clarify, when Paul sings, "And Eddie's just a beast", he's talking about Iron Maiden's mascot, Eddie the Head, not Eddie Van Halen.

LYRICS

Well I’m tired of the same old trash you get me every year,
A couple of shirts, a pair of pants and boxer underwear.
Well babe I’m telling you one thing, I’m laying it on the line,
If you want peace this holiday, you better give me what I want this time!
Chorus:
I want a Heavy Metal Christmas, a Heavy Metal Christmas
A Heavy Metal Christmas, Christmas this year!!

Well Def Leppard real rocks me, so does Judas Priest,
Ozy’s kinda crazy baby and Eddie’s just a beast.
Van Halen keeps me runnin with the devil deep inside,
Led Zepplin’s still the greatest band that ever was alive!

Repeat Chorus:…………Come on, light the tree Johnny!

Well I’m tired of the same old trash you get me every year,
Guns N’ Roses and Metallica is what I wanna hear.
Aerosmith and AC/DC on that rock I could thrive,
The greatest metal ever recorded was when Bon Scott was alive!

Repeat Chorus:……….You hear what I’m saying honey? That’s what I want.
Repeat Chorus:……….Queensryche, how bout Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, even some KISS!
Come on!
Repeat Chorus:……….Marilyn Manson, Iron Maiden, Come on honey! Black Sabbath, UFO,
Come on, fire up some Scorpions!
I just want my Heavy Metal.
