The Story Behind The Song: Episode #4 - Stay With Me from the EP "Reach For The Stars"

In the early days, the band would rehearse on the second floor of a warehouse in an industrial park in Lansing, Illinois. One evening Carl called John and they met at the room to work on a new song Carl had. After a melody change to the chorus and the addition of a few guitar parts Stay With Me was complete. The song has withstood the test of time as one of the top songs in the live shows. As new songs come and old songs go, Stay With Me STAYS on the playlist. It is a fun song with lots of guitar and vocal harmonies and fun drum fills. Roger, as always, does a great job on the lead vocal. If you listen closely, you may hear a BEATLES influence in this one. Stay With Me was written to be the last song on the Reach For The Stars EP as it has a subliminal message.
LYRICS
Don’t tell me you’ve got to be leaving
Cause I can’t hear a word that you say
I’m all caught up in a daydream
And I wouldn’t understand you anyway
In my head got it all figured out in my heart
There ain’t any doubt that its you
Got to have you
CHORUS
I want you, Stay with me
I want you, Can’t you see
Don’t tell me you’re lost and confused now
Cause I’m libel to make up your mind
You know that I won’t be refused now
I’ll just give you a little more time
In my head got it all figured out in my heart
There ain’t any doubt that its you
Got to have you
CHORUS
